Residents of Lincoln came together to celebrate community values, friendship and equality in a colourful street party underneath Pelham Bridge this weekend.

The Under the Bridge event featured live music, workshops, activities, games, food and drinks throughout the afternoon and evening on Saturday, June 17.

Organisers Compassionate Lincoln put the event together as part of a national series of events in remembrance of the life of the murdered MP Jo Cox and her belief that we have ‘more in common than that which divides us’.

Steering Group Manager Charlie Kemp explained ahead of the event that the location was chosen as a unique opportunity to “animate an otherwise dreary space with music, activity, laughter and friendship.”

A number of local bands filled the area with music, including The Stand in Blues Band, Gypsies and The Society of Strange Living.

Activities included DJ masterclasses, face painting and crafts, as well as an Under the ~Bridge Wishing Line, for visitors to post their dreams and ambitions.
