A spokesperson for the sanctuary posted on Facebook: “On Sunday, a grey seal was rescued from the beach near North Shore.

“At eight-months-old and approximately 30kg, this pup was older and a lot heavier than most of the seals we are used to rescuing.

“This poor pup was found with fishing line wrapped around its neck that created a very sore wound.

“However, since the pup’s arrival at Natureland the fishing line has been removed allowing us to treat the wound properly and is responding very well to the treatment.

“The pup has also been feeding on its own which is a very positive sign that they will be back to normal very soon!”
