Delays expected as road closures start tonight for North Hykeham crossroads works

Section three and section four of the roadworks at the junction at Newark Road, Station Road and Moor Lane will to begin this evening.

Section three and section four of the roadworks at the junction at Newark Road, Station Road and Moor Lane will to begin this evening, August 7.

Station Road will be closed from 6pm to 6am every night until August 12 and diversions will be in place.

There will also be temporary traffic lights between the crossroads and 291 Newark Road which was last for the same duration.

Work began in the area on July 24 and is expected to be complete on September 4.

Councillor Richard Davies, Executive Member for Highways and Transport, previously said: “Several sections of the carriageway we’ll be working on are at the end of their serviceable life and others are very near to that point.

“As a result, we’ll be resurfacing the road to make it safer and provide drivers with a smoother journey.

“We intend to do everything we can to minimise disruption throughout all of the planned improvements, while also ensuring the safety of the workforce carrying out the improvements.

“Some of the ways we intend to do this are by coordinating overnight works and temporary traffic signals.

“Due to the nature of the works, there will inevitably be some disruptions, so we ask road users to consider alternative travel routes where possible and to remain patient as any short-term inconvenience will be greatly outweighed by the long-term benefits.”
