Jobs at risk as Asda begins consultation with 175 staff in Lincolnshire town

Around 10% could face redundancy.

Jobs could be at risk in Boston after Asda launched a consultation over the future with 175 members of staff.

Some are facing a reduction of hours, others are being asked to consider redundancy.

The supermarket, which is owned by American retail giant Walmart, launched the consultation due to a change in shopping habits over the last few years.

Asda found increased numbers of customers are now using more modern methods for their weekly shop, including online methods, home delivery and self-scanning products.

Of the 17 stores facing consultation nationally, only one Lincolnshire store is facing possible changes to its staff rotas.

Currently, there are 381 members of staff at the Boston store on Lister Way, however, 175 of these are involved in a month-long review, with many of the workers facing reduced hours.

It is believed that around 17 people (10%) could face redundancy following the talks.
