Ruskington man found guilty of sexually grooming child and possessing indecent images

He will be sentenced next month.

A man who sexually groomed a 14-year-old child has been found guilty.

Jason Simpson, 36 and of Meadowbrook, Ruskington, Sleaford, was found guilty of nine counts of sexual activity with a child and making and possessing indecent images of children on August 14, at Lincoln Crown Court.

Lincolnshire Police said officers were first alerted to Simpson when the victim disclosed to police that she had been sexually assaulted.

The case was investigated by the Child Sexual Exploitation Team at Grantham, who worked with the victim throughout the process in partnership with Lincolnshire’s Independent Sexual Violence Advisors and the SAFE Team.

Through the victim coming forward, officers were able to secure vital evidence by examining devices and hearing victim statements.

Detective Sergeant Simon Todd, of Lincolnshire Police Child Sexual Expolitation and Grooming team, said: “This is a really good result for the CSE/Online grooming team and just shows the importance of people reporting any contact they believe is inappropriate.

“Very often the victims themselves will not report these offences as they do not realise that they are suffering from abuse.

“It is vital that we raise as much awareness as possible to encourage people to come forward.”

Simpson will be sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court on September 18.
