Arts and crafts retail chain Hobbycraft has revealed that it is looking at opportunities in Lincoln with a view of opening its first store in the city.

The company, that has shops in Nottingham, Hull and Derby, said that it is considering units and developments in the city, and that if a location were to be agreed it would look to open next year.

A Hobbycraft spokesperson told The Lincolnite said: ““We are exploring opportunities and looked at locations at Lincoln.

“If it was to go through it wouldn’t be until next year, but we are definitely considering Lincoln.”

Hobbycraft was founded in 1995 and now has over 80 stores across the UK.

The stores sell a variety of products for arts and craft activities such as baking, sewing and origami.

The news will be welcomed by craft enthusiasts, particularly after the closure of one of the oldest family-run arts and stationery shops in Lincoln, Ruddocks.
