Developers submit plans for new housing estate in Gainsborough

A number of the homes would be affordable.

Plans have been submitted for 49 new homes next to the River Trent in Gainsborough.

Proposals lodged by Thonock and Somerby Estates would see the new homes built on land to the west of Horsley Road.

Previous plans for this site were withdrawn in 2016 due to the area falling within an Area of Important Open Space.

However, this designation has since been removed.

The application site is described as irregular in shape and totals 2.03 hectares.

Proposals suggest that the site would have six two-bed homes, 37 three-bed homes and six four-bed homes.

Some 20% of these properties would be affordable housing, however, at the time of writing it is unclear which of the homes will be affordable.

A new playground would also be provided in the heart of the development for both existing and new residents to the area.

Councillors on West Lindsey District Council’s planning committee will decide on the plans at a later date.
