Lidl submits plans for new store to bring 40 jobs to Spalding

The new supermarket could bring 40 new jobs to the area.

Plans have been submitted for a new multi-million pound Lidl store to be built in Spalding which would create 40 new jobs in the area.

Proposals would see a new store built on Holbeach Road in the town.

If approved, the supermarket would have state-of-the-art facilities including an in-store bakery, longer-style tills with dual packing, customer toilets, baby changing and ample parking for both cars and bicycles.

Colin Rimmer, regional head of property at the German discount supermarket chain, said: “We have received an incredible amount of support from the local community and are delighted to announce that we have submitted a planning application with South Holland District Council.

“If granted this would mark a multi-million pound investment in the area, and the creation of new jobs when the store opens.

“We look forward to receiving the decision in due course.”

Councillors at South Holland District Council will discuss the plans at a later date.
