American couple buys 350-year-old pub in Willoughton near Gainsborough

The pub has now been bought.

A pub in Willoughton near Gainsborough has been sold by the Marshall family after being in their ownership for 28 years.

The Stirrup Inn is a 350-year-old, traditional village inn, with parts reputedly dating back to the 16th century.

US residents David and Jess Mallinder have now bought the pub, which had a guide price of £330,000.

Simon Hall of Fleurets handled the sale and said: “I am delighted with the successful sale of this cosy wet-led pub.

“It sold within four months, which is particularly pleasing as it had been on the market with two other agents in recent years.

“In the end we were spoilt for choice with several offers around the asking price.”

The vendor, Simon Marshall, will remain in the area and will be back as a customer.

David and Jess do not plan to make any immediate changes and will continue to build the trade around the community.
