Greetwell Fields Lane to permanently close next month for Lincoln Eastern Bypass

It will close in January.

Greetwell Fields Lane will be permanently closed from January 15 next to make way for the Lincoln Eastern Bypass.

The road, known locally as the Bunny Run, connects St Augustine Road with Greetwell Road.

However, the new bypass will sever the local access road as the carriageway is built to connect the Wragby Road roundabout with a new roundabout on Greetwell Road.

Councillor Richard Davies, responsible for highways at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “Construction of the bypass is going well and is really set to ramp up early next year.

“As part of this, we’ll be stopping up Greetwell Fields Lane in January, followed by Hawthorn Road later in the year. This will allow Carillion access to the area for building new carriageway between Wragby Road roundabout and Greetwell Road.

“When complete in Winter 2019, the Lincoln Eastern Bypass will ease congestion in and around Lincoln, making travel much easier for people while also supporting growth and development around the city.”
