Daredevil soapbox racers to zoom through Lincoln village later this year

The event will take place for the third time.

Inventive adrenaline junkies will be shooting down a winding course in the village of Coleby near Lincoln in their own modified soapboxes later this year.

The Coleby Downhill Challenge will return for the third time on June 9 and 10, where 36 soapboxes, sidecars and gravity bikes will test their speed skills down Coleby Hill.

Reaching speeds in excess of 40mph, a timed practice will take place on Saturday, June 9 and continue throughout the day.

The Downhill Challenge will start at 10am on Sunday, June 10 with
results and presentations at 4pm.

The ‘Gravity Bike’ class will be Round 4 of the 2018 National Gravity Bike Championships.

Family entertainment will be on throughout the weekend event plus ample parking facilities will be available in the village.

Organisers of the challenge said: “Downhill soapbox racing is spectacular and breathtaking coupled with the quality of this years competitors, better than ever, the competition will be fierce and exciting.”
