Lincoln rail disruption after person hit by train in Newark

Delays for much of the day.

Many local rail services have been disrupted after a person was struck by a train at Newark North Gate.

Officers from British Transport Police were called to the station at 10.47am on Friday, January 26. The person was pronounced dead at the scene.

East Midlands Trains said that services on the Leicester/Lincoln/Grimsby route have been disrupted.

The Virgin Trains 16:09 Kings Cross to Newark North Gate train and the 6.54pm Newark to Kings Cross services have been cancelled. All earlier trains were cancelled too.

Hull Trains has put replacement buses from Doncaster to Peterborough, calling at Retford and Grantham; from Doncaster to Hull, calling at Selby and Brough; from Doncaster to Howden.
