Lincoln sprinting star Georgina Adam, 17, selected for England

2018 is off to a dashing start for Georgina.

A Lincoln teenager is making her county proud by representing England in the Indoor Track and Field competition in Vienna this weekend.

Impressively, Georgina Adam, 17, currently holds the record for fastest female in the UK in the 200m so far this year, but she won’t be resting on her laurels.

“I’m actually hoping to achieve a new personal best while I’m out there,” she said.

Georgina, who is a student at North Kesteven Academy in North Hykeham, will be representing England Athletics at the Indoor Track and Field competition at the Dusika-Hallen stadium in Vienna on January 27 and 28.

The 17-year-old is no stranger to sprinting with the national team, having previously won a silver medal in the 4x200m when representing England in an overseas competition in the Bahamas last July.

She added: “I can’t wait to head to Vienna to race for team England in the 200m at the Indoor Track and Field Championships.

“It’s quite daunting as I’ll be competing against the senior level team but it’s a real honour to be representing my country.”

Headteacher at North Kesteven Academy, Neil Wilkinson-McKie said: “We are absolutely thrilled for Georgina, whose 2018 season is already off to a dashing start!

“We’re so proud to have one of our students flying the flag and we’ll be keeping everything crossed for her this weekend.”

Next month Georgina will compete in the British Indoor Championships on February 17 and 18 in the 60m and 200m where she will be contending for a place against all senior team GB athletes.
