Man who strolled out of Boston Magistrates’ Court found by police

He had been remanded in custody.

A man who walked out of Boston Magistrates’ Court before he was sentenced has been found and charged by Lincolnshire Police.

Jordan Jay Gilbert, 24, and of Willoughby Road, Boston, has been charged with escape from lawful custody.

Gilbert had been remanded in custody following a disqualified from driving offence.

However, he walked out of the court’s foyer at 2.30pm on Tuesday, January 16.

Gilbert has appeared at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court and will appear at Lincoln Crown Court for trial on February 19.

At the time of his escape, Superintendent Phil Vickers said: “We anticipate that he will be looking for someone to help him and possibly provide a bed for the night.

“I’d like to make it clear that assisting an offender is in itself an offence and we’d be looking to investigate anyone providing assistance to him.”
