The Voice of Lincoln: Would you support a second EU referendum?

Nigel Farage thinks a second EU referendum would be a good idea.

Former UKIP leader Nigel Farage has reawakened calls for a second EU referendum after appearing on Channel 5’s The Wright Stuff yesterday – but do the people of Lincoln support this idea?

Farage first announced his somewhat surprising new standpoint on Channel 5’s The Wright Stuff on Thursday, January 11.

He said: “My mind is actually changing on all this.

“What is for certain is that the Cleggs, the Blairs, the Adonises will never, ever, ever give up. They will go on whingeing and whining and moaning all the way through this process.

“So maybe, just maybe, I’m reaching the point of thinking that we should have a second referendum on EU membership.

“I think that if we had a second referendum on EU membership, we would kill it off for a generation.”

The people of Lincoln were mixed in their opinions on the matter, with some supportive of the decision as ‘the government haven’t done what they promised’, while others think it would be a bad idea and we should just ‘get on with it’.

One person said: “I think a decision has been made and we have to stick by it.

“I don’t agree with the decision and it’s not the way I would vote but I think that [having a second referendum] is a ridiculous idea.

“We should just get on with it.”

Another added: “First time round a lot of people actually voted in the referendum not really knowing what it was about – a lot of people seemed to think it was about immigration and it wasn’t.

“I think people are now realising that is not the case and people who did originally vote Leave are going to come around now and say ‘actually that is not what we wanted'”.
