Burton Waters restaurant closure leaves customers frustrated

Vouchers were still on sale after the closure.

The closure of the Laguna Verde restaurant in Burton Waters has left some customers disgruntled.

The Mediterranean restaurant opened in 2015 and suddenly closed in mid-January 2018.

But vouchers for the Laguna Verde were on sale on discount website Groupon as recently as January 30, 2018, with customers unable to use them, one reader explained to The Lincolnite.

Despite announcing the closure with a poster on the restaurant window, it appears other people who had future bookings at the venue were not informed.

One reviewer wrote on TripAdvisor: “My friend booked this restaurant in advance for my birthday. When we arrived there was a notice on the door stating ‘Due to unforeseen circumstances we are closed until further notice’. No one contacted us to let us know from the restaurant.”

On the same page, another user wrote: “We visited too for a special occasion, travelled an hour to get here, only to find it was closed. The table was reserved for weeks and they never called to advise of a problem.

“I understand sometimes unavoidable circumstances happen, but if a customer booked it’s only common courtesy to advise them if you closed,” they added.

Laguna Verde restaurant received a food hygiene rating of 3 (generally satisfactory) by West Lindsey District Council inspectors in August 2017.

The business had a positive reputation with an overall 4.5 star ratings on Google and several glowing reviews.

The restaurant’s voicemail still seems to suggest bookings can be taken.
