Flying Scotsman on track for summer visit to Lincolnshire

It’s making stops in four Lincolnshire locations.

The Flying Scotsman is returning to Lincolnshire this summer and will pass through various vantage points across the county on its journey.

The famous 1923 locomotive will haul the Scarborough Flyer through Gainsborough, Lincoln, Sleaford and Spalding on June 23.

The eagerly awaiting public will be hoping for better luck this time after last year’s no show when the train was forced to reroute past the county.

Due to a defect in the traction equipment at York the train was severely delayed from setting off, with the decision taken for it to travel the main line route instead, through Retford, Grantham and Peterborough.

Fingers crossed for better luck this time, with the train due to start at Scarborough at 6.35am and leave Lincoln from 9am.  A return trip by diesel traction getting back from Ealing Broadway in London at around 8.25pm.

There are different pricing options available for those wanting to take the journey, with higher costs for people wanting the premium dining experience.
