Humberside Police investigates distraction burglary in Scunthorpe

Beware rogue traders and bogus callers.

Humberside Police are warning residents in and around Scunthorpe after a distraction burglary at a property on Brigg Road.

A man called at a house around 1.10pm on January 29, wearing a high-vis jacket. He was let in to the house after he claimed he had been asked to repair the neighbour’s fence and had to discuss the work.

After the man left, the resident found out that a large quantity of cash was missing from his home.

The man wearing high-vis jacket is being described as a white man, aged in his 40s or 50s with a moustache.

Following the incident, Humberside Police have issued a warning against distraction burglary or rogue trader/bogus callers.

Police are appealing to the public to come forward with any information on this incident of distraction burglary. People can call 101 quoting crime reference number 16/20429/18.
