Lincoln weather warnings latest: Snow falls and temperatures plummet

Breakdown of this week’s Lincolnshire weather warnings.

Lincoln is in the pathway of a snowy blast this week, as the UK braces itself for one of the coldest February weeks in around five years.

The Met Office has issued yellow and amber weather warnings in the coming days and parts of the county have already seen some snow flurries through the morning of Monday, February 26.

Local policing teams have reminded drivers to take extra care on roads as a surge of collisions were logged by the force on Monday morning.

People are being warned to prepare for some travel disruptions throughout the week.

Some train companies have made changes to their services on Monday night and Tuesday due to the wintery forecast.

Lincolnshire County Council’s gritting teams are on standby to battle ice and snow across the county up until mid-March.

Met Office yellow weather warning, Monday, February 26

A yellow weather warning for snow covering Lincoln and the whole of Lincolnshire is in place between 2pm and 11.55 on Monday, February 26.

Forecasters said snow showers will hit the county throughout Monday morning and become more heavy and persistent in the afternoon and evening.

There is a potential for some travel delays and the odd power cut.


Met Office amber weather warning, Tuesday, Feb 27

From the early hours of Tuesday, snow showers are expected to worsen.

Two amber weather warnings for snow are in place for Lincoln and Lincolnshire between 4am and 11am, and again between 2pm and midnight.

Forecasters said: “The heaviest, most persistent snow looks likely to cross the area during the mid morning. There is a likelihood for travel delays on roads, with some stranded vehicles and passengers.


Met Office weather warning, Wednesday, Feb 28

On Wednesday, the warning is back in the yellow grade, however heavy snow showers are still expected throughout the day.

A yellow Met Office warning is in place for Lincolnshire between midnight and 11.55pm on Wednesday.
