Man allegedly assaulted in Grimsby for not handing over cigarette

He was walking with his partner at the time.

A man is suffering serious injuries to his leg after he was reportedly attacked for refusing to hand over a cigarette.

The victim and his partner were walking on Corporation Road in Grimsby at around 7.15pm on Sunday, January 21 when they were approached by a man who asked for a cigarette.

He allegedly assaulted victim when he was refused and ran off in the direction of Alexandra Road.

Humberside Police said: “The suspect is described as white, stocky, five feet seven, wearing a black top, grey jogging bottoms and a black woollen hat

“We’re appealing to a number of motorists who were in the area at the time, and anyone in a nearby supermarket car park who may have seen something to call 101 quoting log 442 of January 21.”
