Lincoln charity rough sleepers raise over £10k for homeless centre

An amazing effort for charity.

More than 60 people slept rough outside Lincoln Cathedral on Friday night to raise money and awareness for homelessness in the city.

YMCA Lincolnshire’s Sleep Easy event on March 9 raised more than £10,500 for the charity’s capital appeal to build new emergency overnight accommodation for the homeless in Lincoln.

Here are some of the pictures from the night from Through the Lens Photography by Adam Winfield.

Caroline Killeavy, CEO of the charity, said: “Sleep Easy has been an amazing community effort. From Lincoln Cathedral who hosted our event, to Spalding who supplied the boxes, Running Imp who provided space blankets, ECHO and Stokes who were on hand with hot food and drink, and the fantastic people who spent the night sleeping rough. We couldn’t do it without any of them.

“The funds that everyone has helped to raise will go towards making our vision of a day centre and emergency overnight accommodation a reality. On behalf of everyone at YMCA Lincolnshire and Nomad, I’d like to say a big thank you to all involved.”
