Imps duo ready to complete unfinished business at Wembley

“There will be a better atmosphere this time around”

Lincoln City duo Luke Waterfall and Matt Green have unfinished business at Wembley and want to help propel the Imps to success on Sunday.

Danny Cowley’s men face Shrewsbury in Sunday’s Checkatrade Trophy Final (3pm kick-off), with captain Waterfall and striker Green having played there before.

Waterfall was an unused substitute for Wrexham against North Ferriby in the 2014/15 FA Trophy Final.

Waterfall said in the team’s press conference on Friday, April 6: “I think it will be a lot better this time around and a lot fuller.

“There was only 21,000-22,000 when I previously went, as you can imagine that’s not a lot inside Wembley, but we’re taking near enough 27,000 so it will be a lot better atmosphere this time around.

“Hopefully I’ll get out there this time round and hopefully get my hands on the trophy. It would be a dream come true.”

Green was an unused substitute for Torquay in the 2009 Conference play-off Final before playing and scoring to secure Oxford United’s place back in the Football League in May 2010.

Green added: “It is a great occasion, it really is, at the national ground, so we’ll be right up for it.”
