Drivers in a flap over ‘kidnapped’ swan

Swan spotted in the boot of a car

While swans may be a common sight on Lincoln’s waterways, it’s not everyday you see one in the back of a car.

The sight was a surprise for Tracy Smith who snapped a photo of the feathery passenger in the boot of a blue Toyota Yaris at around 1pm.

She reported the incident to Lincolnshire Police who said the vehicle, believed to have ’09’ in the number plate, was last seen pulling onto Horton Street, just off Monks Road.

Police said they are looking into the report and asked for anyone with information to call 101, or email [email protected] quoting incident 177 of today.

Good news

UPDATE: A member of the Lincoln Swan Rescue group shed some light on the unusual swan taxi ride.

She said: “It had a busted wing and is now at a sanctuary in Yorkshire where he will be assessed by a vet.”
