Dragon boats to battle on Lincoln Brayford

A fiery race in Lincoln.

The annual Lincoln Dragon Boat Challenge will return this month on the Brayford waterfront for charity.

The race will see 16 local teams take to the water in 30-foot brightly painted Chinese boats, watched on by hundreds of cheering spectators on Saturday, July 21.

They’ll compete across a 200m course along the water for the chance to become the 2018 water dragons of the year.

The 16 local teams, including Delta-Simons, APSS, Lambert Smith Hampton, Lincoln BIG, Branston, Lovelle Estate Agents and many more will be raising money for LIVES, The Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and St Barnabas Hospice in Lincoln.

The event, hosted by Ringrose Law, has become an annual event in the city’s calendar. Last year, over £7,000 was raised for local charities and this year the organisers hope to raise even more.

Alex Bennett, organizer of the event and Marketing Manager at Ringrose Law said: “We are delighted that so many local companies and organisations are supporting this event and through their generosity we hope to raise a significant sum for our chosen charities.

“We are sure that crews and spectators alike will enjoy a fantastic day with races every 10/15 minutes throughout the day and plenty of places to eat, drink and spectate along the Brayford Waterfront.”

Trophies will be presented at the end of the day to the winning crew and to the team which raises the most money for charity.
