Woman due in court for serious animal neglect

She will appear in court for sentencing

A Lincolnshire woman will be sentenced next week for numerous cases of animal cruelty after she left dogs to starve amongst urine and faeces and neglected other farmyard animals.

Maxine Cammock, 54, of Dyke Drove, Dyke Village, Bourne admitted five offences contrary to the Animal Welfare Act 2006 at a previous hearing.

She will now appear for sentencing before Peterborough Magistrates Court on Tuesday, July 10 at 11am.

The prosecution case brought by the RSPCA relates to a large number of animals and the five offences are as follows:

  • Causing unnecessary suffering to seven dogs by failing to provide adequate nutrition between September 10 and October 10 2017.
  • Failing to meet the needs of seven dogs by housing them in a urine and faeces contaminated environment between September 10 and October 10 2017.
  • On dates before October 10 2017 failing to meet the needs of pig by failing to house him in an environment free from rat poison.  She also failed to protect him from pain, suffering, injury or disease once he had ingested rat poison.
  • Between October 27 and November 8 2017 failing to meet the needs of 10 chickens by housing them in an environment that didn’t allow them to stand properly or stretch their wings and failing to provide adequate food or drinking water.
  • Between October 27 and November 8 2017 failing to meet the needs of 55 chicks by housing them in cardboard boxes or plastic containers which did not provide a suitable environment for their needs.
