Italian restaurant staff step up after boss jailed

“It would be a shame if it closed”

Staff at a popular Italian restaurant have said that business will be “open as usual” after the boss of Tiamo was jailed for tax fraud.

As reported previously, Fathi Zureiqi failed to declare hundreds of thousands of pounds in takings from his pizza house in North Hykeham and Italian restaurant in Sleaford.

Officers from HMRC carried out a raid at his premises, which uncovered that Zureiqi had failed to declare takings of almost £400,000 over a three year period.

Now staff at Tiamo have told The Lincolnite that the jailing of their boss will not affect trade.

The head chef at Tiamo pizza restaurant, Alberto Iacoe Turo, said that he will be stepping in to help run the business.

He said: “Business will be open as usual at both restaurants. The staff here will be stepping up to help run Tiamo.

“I have been working here for the past eight years. It’s a big family business, so it would be a shame if it closed.”
