Two combine harvester fires overnight

Onlookers watched dramatic scenes

Fire crews rushed to the scene after a combine harvester burst into flames in Crowland last night.

Crews from Crowland and Spalding attended the scene of the fire involving a combine harvester and 200sqm of straw stubble during the evening of Wednesday, August 8.

Two hose reels, a main jet and beaters were used to extinguish the fire, which was caused by a fault within the harvester.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said: “No injuries were reported and the cause was put down as combustible materials within the engine compartment catching fire.”

This wasn’t the only fire involving a combine harvester in the South Holland area overnight as crews were also called to an incident near a wheat field on North Drove, Quadring Fen.
