First look: Showtime at Swampy Johns Lincoln

Opening tonight.

Swampy Johns American showbar is officially opening in Lincoln tonight with live music, food and drinks.

Opening in the former Status bar, the owners of Swampy Johns have completely gutted out the venue to start afresh.

It is set to impress with multiple bars, a dedicated stage for live music and a kitchen where punters can grab food on-site.

The kitchen will be serving pizzas, chips, burgers and much more all night.

A new band has formed just for the venue, called the Swampy Johns Junkyard Dogs, and they will be performing every Friday night.

Saturday nights will play host to acoustic sets, playing a medley of classic hits with the venue’s signature twist.

The venue will be open four days a week on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 7pm until 3am.

It has cost £350,000 to completely renovate the bar with all new seating, decorations and even a garden swing for those perfect selfies.

Paul Kinsey, owner of Swampy Johns, said: “The inspiration for the bar comes from New Orleans and Nashville, but it’s not country music led.

“Its going to be classic chart music all the way to old school jazz and blues – just anything that will get people tapping their feet.

“The only idea about the place is that everybody can have a good time, as long as they don’t ruin the night for someone else.

“More and more people want something different and my instinct is that people will like it because there are so many dimensions to Swampy Johns.”

The venue has created over 40 new jobs for Lincoln with floor staff, security, the band and other performers.
