Bomb disposal unit swoop in at RAF base

A cordon is in place

A bomb disposal unit are at the scene after a possible explosive was found at RAF Cranwell this morning.

The discovery was made during routine works and workmen were reportedly resurfacing the runway when the discovery was made on Tuesday, October 9.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team are still at the scene at the time of writing.

An RAF spokesman said: “The RAF can confirm that during routine works a possible legacy ordnance was identified. A cordon has been established and a EOD team are on scene.”
