A beef farmer from Lincolnshire has been named as the best in the country

A beef farmer from Lincolnshire has been named as the best in the country at an awards evening last night.

The owner of Southfield Farm in Louth, Andrew Laughton, was given the prestigious title of beef farmer of the year.

Andrew was praised for the exceptional animal health and cost control, which has helped him to grow his beef output to 15-fold.

He firmly believes that air quality, fresh bedding and quality feed drives the wellbeing of cattle.

The event was hosted by Gyles Brandreth (left) with the editor of Farmers Weekly (middle right) and sponsored by ABP, which Colin Duffy (right) represents.

Andrew was named among 15 others at the annual Farmers Weekly Awards, which was held in London on Thursday, October 4.

The awards recognise and reward farmers for innovation, commitment to the industry and hard work.

It aims to spread best practice, inspire others and showcase the best farmers in the country by telling their stories.
