Patisserie Valerie in Lincoln at risk of closure

The owner of the cake chain has issued a stark warning

Jobs at the Lincoln branch of a chain cake store are at risk as the company announces that may be forced to close.

Patisserie Valerie has one store on the High Street and another in Sainsburys on Tritton Road where jobs could be cut.

When The Lincolnite contacted the High Street store, staff were not aware of any potential closures.

It is among other major stores in the area like Toys R Us, Ruddocks and BHS which have been forced to close.

The company went into a financial crisis on Wednesday, October 10 after it revealed that millions were missing from its accounts.

Now the board has said that it is “assessing all options available to the business to keep it trading and will update the market in due course.”

Across Patisserie Valerie’s more than 200 stores, it employs around 2,500 members of staff.

HM Revenue and Customs filed a winding-up petition at the High Court on September 14 over an unpaid £1.4 million tax bill.
