Digger found after another Co-op ram raid

Second incident in a month

A digger was found at the scene after a brand new Co-op store was left with a large hole in the side of the shop during an alleged theft of an ATM.

Police were called at 12.53am on Thursday, November 8 to the new Co-op store on Conisholme Road, which has only been open for a few days, after the reported theft of its Eau Bank ATM.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “There was a large hole in the side of the shop, and the wall had suffered extensive damage. A digger was also found at the scene.”

There have been no arrests at the time of writing, police said.

This is the second reported theft of a cash machine in under a week after one was stolen in a ram raid at the Lincolnshire Co-op store at Witham St Hughs store on Muntjac Way in the early hours of Friday, November 2.

It happened at around 2.15am on November 2, when a stolen forklift vehicle was used to remove the ATM from the shop.

The cash machine was then taken away in another vehicle.
