Lincoln underground crossing flooded again

The county council is investigating

The pedestrian underground crossing in Lincoln city centre has flooded again, this time by around two to three inches water after torrential downpours on Tuesday.

Last time this happened in September, the pump that clears the water from the passage was broken, but it has been replaced recently.

A highways spokesperson at Lincolnshire County Council said: “We hadn’t been alerted to the water in the subway, but will investigate.

“Once we know what is causing the issue, we’ll be able to identify if any action is necessary.

“The pumps in the subway were replaced relatively recently, so we would be surprised if they has stopped working.

“However, it is possible they have become clogged with leaves or litter, or that the system was simply overwhelmed by the heavy rain we’ve experienced.”
