Pool swim-presses East Lindsey officers

An application for a new pool at a Tattershall holiday resort has gone swimmingly after consideration from planning officers.

Away Resorts’ application, which included a bar and changing facilities, a terrace and another building for plant equipment and storage, has floated the boat of planning officers at East Lindsey District Council.

The application, which cannon-balled through the process, saw no objections from statutory consultees.

Officers called the application “acceptable” and complied with planning policies.

In documents before the council, Away Resorts said they wanted to ‘provide enhanced leisure facilities’.

“The proposed works represent a major investment in the park and also confirm Away Resort Limited’s aspirations to provide improved guest facilities and to generally enhance the holiday park,” they said.

“Moreover, it is recognised that good sport and recreation provision can help to underpin the economic structure of a holiday park by creating a desirable holiday environment, which therefore attracts more guests and in turn contributes a positive economic benefit to the wider area.”

Earlier this year, the facility also put in plans to extend the indoor swimming pool which was constructed in 2011.

The report added: “The client has identified that the swimming pool facilities need to be expanded further due to increase demand and it is considered that an outdoor swimming pool will provide a socially inviting facility.

“It is recognised that sport and recreation can help to underpin the economic structure of the holiday park through creating a desirable holiday environment.

“This vision has a positive economic benefit to the wider district through tourism by attracting more visitors to the area.”
