Tributes for “lovely” teen after body found

The death is not being treated as suspicious

Tributes have poured in for Spalding man Lee Smalley after police searching for him discovered a body yesterday.

As previously reported, the body of a man was found near Cowbit shortly before 10am on Thursday, November 1.

Police had been searching for the 19-year-old, who was last seen at around 1.30am the same morning.

Lincolnshire Police previously said Lee’s immediate family had been informed and the search was concluded.

They have since confirmed they are not treating the death as suspicious.

The case has been handed over to the coroner.

Tributes to “lovely young man”

Sue Craig posted on social media: “How sad. What a dreadful thing to happen” with Kate Matt adding: “Really sad. Condolences to his friends and family”.

Elizabeth Kendall said: “So sad, he went fishing with my husband. He said he was a lovely young man. Condolences to his family.”

Claire Louise Travis added: “This is devastating. Poor lad, so young, thoughts go out to his family and loved ones at this awful time”, while Tammy Wilson commented: “What awful news bless him. Such a lovely lad”

Ali Jeffery-Holt added: “That’s incredibly sad that such a young life is lost. Condolences to his family and friends. I’m so sorry young man.”
