Driver airlifted to hospital after transporter smash

The driver had to be cut out of their vehicle

A car driver was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a crash which saw the vehicle hit a fence in Immingham on Wednesday morning.

The crash involving a black Peugeot and a car transporter happened at around 8.30am on the A1173 Manby Road.

The Peugeot left the road and drove into a fence. The car driver was cut out of their vehicle before being airlifted to hospital.

Although the driver’s injuries are serious, they are not thought to be life threatening, Humberside Police said.

As previously reported, police closed the road at 9.55am with slow traffic both ways from A160 Humber Road to Pelham Road.

The road and surrounding roads have had to be closed off while emergency services attended and recovery took place.
