Police name man found drowned in canal

Appeal for sightings before his death

A body found in a Grantham canal has been named and police are looking for witnesses.

Andrew North, 50, was found in the canal near to the Dirty Duck pub on Wednesday, December 5.

His death is not being treated as suspicious at this time, but the results of a post-mortem revealed that he drowned.

As part of their investigation, Lincolnshire Police would like to speak with anyone who saw him after 2pm on Monday, December 3 or in the following two days.

They are keen to speak with anyone who may have given him a lift to the Dirty Duck pub.

Andrew left work at Talbot Chemicals in Newark at around 2pm on Monday, December 3 and walked to The White Swan pub at around 2.25pm.

He left shortly after through the back door, which took him onto Queens Road, and it is unclear where he went from that point.

Mr North has been described as white, slim to medium build and tall.

At the time he was wearing heavy-duty work trousers, a high-visibility tabard with no sleeves and a striped beanie hat.

Anyone who saw Andrew at any point after 2pm on December 3 or the following two days are being urged to contact police on 101, quoting incident 255 of December 5.
