Popular Lincoln shoe shop set to shut

Now it’s holding a closing down sale

A popular shoe store which has been in Lincoln for the past seven years is set to close its doors.

Charles Clinkard prides itself on providing ‘fine footwear,’ but people will now have to travel out of Lincolnshire for their shoe selection.

It first opened in Lincoln in 2012 on Guildhall Street, but it will close on January 19, 2019.

Now the staff have put signs in the window to tell customers that they’re having a closing down sale.

The Lincolnite sent a reporter to the store to find out why it was closing and was told that they had a lack of footfall.

Staff said that people simply didn’t know that the store was there and people would try on their shoes and then buy online later.

The Lincoln store sells women’s and men’s shoes, as well as bags and other accessories.

Anyone wanting to try on Charles Clinkard shoes will now have to travel to Nottingham or Sheffield.

It joins Edinburgh Woollen Mill as another Lincoln store to close its doors over the festive period.
