A letter sent out by Anglian Water on January 15 told people that they would need to “boil tap water as a temporary measure.”

A letter sent out to residents.

It read: “We advise that you boil the water and leave it to cool for drinking, cooking, preparing food and brushing teeth until further notice.

“This also applied to drinking water for pets. For your convenience we are delivering bottled water if you would prefer to use this.”

Engineers at Anglian Water are busy repairing the damaged section to ensure that it is safe to drink.
