Three arrested after series of Skegness arson attacks

Police are investigating a possible link with the offences

A series of arson offences have been committed in Skegness over the last week with police appealing for witnesses to four incidents.

Police have arrested three people on suspicion of arson and are investigating a possible link between the offences.

Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue were called to a fire at a two-floor derelict property on Roman Bank at around 7.30pm on Sunday, February 17.

The fire was located on the first floor. Crews used two main jets and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

Severe fire damage was caused to 50% of the first floor and contents of the derelict building. There was also smoke damage to the remained of the first floor. Nobody was injured in the fire.

Lincolnshire Police Drones captured thermal footage of the residual heat from the fire.

Further incidents

Three incidents – two on Heath Road and another on Roman Bank – happened during the evening of Monday, February 18.

In all the incidents the damage was to buildings only with signifiant resources attending the scene.

Deliberate act will be investigated

Inspector Sarah Constantine said: “In these incidents, roads have had to be closed, and significant resources have been sent to deal with these incidents, taking services away from those who really need it. This is a deliberate act and will be investigated.

“We are investigating a possible link between the offences, and at this stage I can confirm we have arrested three people on suspicion of arson.”
