Council offices closed following staff threats

Someone made threats against staff

The offices of North Kesteven District Council have been closed following threats to staff this afternoon.

A spokesman confirmed the decision had been taken to close the reception area at 3.30pm after “an individual” made the threats.

They said: “Whilst the police are aware and are responding, this proportional measure has been taken to ensure the safety of our staff and the public.”

They noted the closure only affected the last two business hours of operation for the week.

They added that in the meantime customers can still contact the council and carry out business on the phone and via the website.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: “We were called about a man who was making threats to hurt himself and others firstly over the phone and then in person at the council offices.

“We have concluded our initial investigations and we do not believe anyone to be at risk of harm.”
