Builders’ merchant creates jobs with new Lincoln site

The move promises to create 15 to 20 jobs in the area

A well-known family builders’ merchant is investing £1 million in a expansion move which promises to create more jobs.

Turnbull & Co, which has been trading more nearly 125 years, claims the expansion into Lincoln will mean 15 to 20 jobs for local people.

The company, which is based in Sleaford and has sites across East Midlands, will move into a former Stagecoach depot on Deacon Road.

Chris Hopkins, Turnbull & Co director said Lincoln is a natural next step for the company, which deals in supplies for building, timber, plumbing, heating, kitchens and bathrooms.

He said: “Lincoln fits in well with our plans for growth. Our new base will focus on plumbing and heating supplies, with a kitchen and bathroom showroom.

“We are planning to open our plumbing and heating department in mid-May, and our bathroom and kitchen showroom will follow in the summer.”

Banks Long & Co Director William Wall said: “We are delighted to have assisted Turnbull with its expansion to Lincoln. The former Stagecoach headquarters enjoys a prominent corner position in Deacon Road.”
