Police warning after spate of van thefts

Vans were targeted and tools were stolen

A spate of thefts from vehicles across the county over the last four days is being investigated by police.

the force received multiple reports in Lincolnshire of work vans being targeted and tools taken.

The incidents occurred from April 6 onwards in areas including Lincoln, Boston, Sleaford, Gainsborough, Bourne, Spalding and Grantham.

Anyone with information or who has seen a work van being targeted should contact police on 101 quoting incident 89 of April 6.

It can also be reported through the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Lincolnshire Police has issued the following advice on preventing vehicles from being targeted:

  • Remove all tools that are essential to day-to-day business if possible
  • If a vehicle uses keyless entry, store the van keys in a. good quality RFID bag when not in use
  • Consider fitting a Thatcham approved Ultrasonic alarm that protects both the rear load and cabin areas in the van
