Stamford in top 10 places to live in the Midlands

Special mentions were given to its market and arts centre

Stamford was named as one of the best places to live by The Sunday Times.

The Lincolnshire town was previously named the best in the country in 2013 and was runner-up in 2017.

It once again proved why it is rated so highly when it made the top 10 in the Midlands section of The Sunday Times’ annual Best Places to Live list.

Edale in Derbyshire was named as the regional winner for the Midlands.

Other places listed in the Best Places to Live in the Midlands were Birmingham: Harborne, Kenilworth, Leamington Spa, Ledbury, Much Wenlock, Shipston-on-Stour, Shrewsbury and Vale of Belvoir.

Among the attractions given a special mention are the thriving Friday market, Corn Exchange and Arts Centre. The Shop Stamford campaign was also praised for its support of High Street businesses.

This year Stamford is described as “still the best-looking town in Britain”.

A spokesperson for South Kesteven District Council said: “Stamford is steeped in history and full of character and it’s no surprise that it is so highly rated. It remains a wonderful place in which to live, work and invest.”
