Cricket: Batting frustration as Waddington begin season with defeat

They travel to Gully Cricketers this weekend

Waddington Cricket Club were left to rue their batting performance after opening their season with a 67 run defeat away at Bassingham.

Bassingham batted first in the Lincoln & District Cricket League Division 3 clash on Sunday. Waddington captain Phil Dainty took the first wicket and another later in the match.

Joe Raw took three wickets before James Husband bowled out the remaining five Bassingham players as the hosts finished on a total of 125 runs.

Waddington struggled from the off when it was their turn to bat, finishing with a score of 58 all out after a good spell of bowling from T.Young, who took five wickets.

Waddington’s James Husband said: “The team bowled and fielded very well to keep Bassingham down to where we did with the batsmen they brought out.

“We will definitely be looking to make a harder impact on the wicket away at Gully Cricketers at the weekend.”
