Drivers in Lincoln will face over a week of overnight roadworks, lane width reductions and closures due to utility and drainage investigations on the A46 Lincoln.
Nighttime investigatory works near the A46 Riseholme and Nettleham roundabouts will be carried out over 10 evenings starting on Monday, May 13.
The first set of investigations will be carried out at Nettleham roundabout for five evenings. During these works four-way temporary traffic signals will be in place from 9pm to 6am.
Lane widths on the A46 North and B1182 will also be reduced from 7.30pm to 6am.
The second set of investigations will be carried out at Riseholme roundabout from Sunday, May 19. During these works two-way temporary traffic signals will be in place on A46 East from 10pm to 6am.
There will again be lane width reductions and lane closures on all other arms of the roundabouts from 8.30pm to 6am.
Executive Member for Highways and Transport at Lincolnshire County Council, Councillor Richard Davies, said: “As part of these works, contractors will be surveying underground drainage and digging trial holes where next year’s A46 roundabout improvements will be taking place.
“This will give our engineers a clearer idea of where utility pipes and cables are located ahead of them completing detailed design of scheme and breaking ground on site next early next year.
“Although these initial works may cause some disruption for those travelling in the evening, I want to remind everyone that it will all be worth it in the end once both roundabouts are improved and there’s less congestion on the bypass.
“In the meantime, I want to thank anyone affected by these early works for remaining patient.”
The £4.7 million A46 roundabout improvement scheme is funded by Lincolnshire County Council and the Greater Lincolnshire LEP. It will see extra lanes added to Riseholme Roundabout and all of its entrances and exits. It will also see the length all of Nettleham Roundabout’s approaches and exits extended.
