Two people die after A17 crash

One person still seriously injured

Two people have died after a crash on the Leadenham bypass on the A17 on Friday afternoon.

As previously reported, emergency services were called to the scene of the crash involving a silver Vauxhall Zafira and a blue Mercedes low loader crane lorry at 1.15pm on Friday, May 24. Emergency service crews, including an air ambulance, attended the scene.

At the time police said three people were seriously injured.

Police later confirmed at 7.40pm on Friday evening that the road had just been re-opened and that two people had died. There is currently no update on the condition of the third person.

The force said they hope to release more details on the collision on Saturday, May 25.

Anyone who was in the area and saw either the silver Zafira or the blue Mercedes crane lorry before the collision, or the crash itself, should contact police on 101.
