Vets’ mission to save abandoned pup Chewbacca

She’s in safe hands for now

She may look like a bouncing bundle of joy, but this poorly pup has been through a tough time in her short life.

The young pooch, affectionately named Chewbacca by her rescuers due to her unusual appearance, was found in a Lincoln garden, cold and limp.

Just days old, and clearly suffering from some form of health condition, she was brought to VetsNow clinic in North Hykeham on May 7.

Colleagues are trying to raise money to save her

Vets believe she has a condition called Hydrocephalus, where fluid builds on the brain, and she requires specialist treatment.

Her eyes have been affected by the deformity, but she appears to be currently neurologically normal.

Staff at the clinic are now trying to raise enough money to give her treatment to live a normal life.

They’re appealing for £6,500 of donations on a Gofundme page here.

Alana Taylor, who works at the out of hours clinic, said: “She was found abandoned in a member of the public’s garden, cold and limp with a brain deformity.

“She was warmed and assessed by my colleagues and is currently thriving, but her having this treatment could help her lead a normal life.”
