Lincoln Armed Forces Day celebrations this weekend

There are other events planned around the county

The City of Lincoln’s Armed Forces Day will take place on Saturday with guests and entertainment throughout the day.

The celebrations in the city centre will take place between 10am and 4pm on Saturday, June 29. Lincoln has continually held an Armed Forces Day event every year since 2010.

People will get the opportunity to meet, speak to and engage with veterans of all ages and military personnel from the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force.

There will be a variety of entertainment including the local Cadet Forces annual drill competition, music from the Army Cadets and the Sea Cadets and the Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue band. Solo artists will also perform at various points through the day and there will be other displays and a parade.

Additional Army vehicles provided by the Royal Logistics – Army Reserves Unit and RAF Reserves will be available to view and enjoy.

There will also be other Armed Forces Day celebrations including on the coast. The North East Lincolnshire Armed Forces Day will take place in Cleethorpes from 12pm on Friday, June 28 through to 5pm on Sunday, June 30.

Star of the show will be the 56 tonne Challenger main battle tank, which will take part in the parade on Saturday.
