Lincolnshire jobs at risk as two companies land in hot water

Which Boots and Bathstore shops are earmarked for closure?

National chains Boots and Bathstore have fallen into difficulty this week with question marks hanging over hundreds of stores and jobs.

Health and beauty chain Boots announced on Friday June 28 that it will close around 200 of its stores over the next 18 months.

Bosses have not yet revealed which stores will close.

Boots currently has 40 shops in Lincolnshire, with five in both Lincoln and Scunthorpe, as well as four in Grantham.

A Boots insider reportedly told Sky News that some of the affected stores would close as their lease expires, while towns and cities with multiple stores will have the number reduced.

It follows the news from earlier this week that Bathstore fell into administration.

The collapse puts more than 500 jobs at the company at risk across the business’ 135-store network.

Lincolnshire is home to three Bathstore shops in Lincoln, Grimsby and Scunthorpe.

It is the country’s largest bathroom specialist and announced the move after “several months of difficult trading.

The company is continuing to trade for now while the hunt continues for a buyer.
